It is now a fact that people like flirting on the internet, because to a certain extent there are no consequences whatsoever.
Online Dating in South Africa is also becoming more and more popular with a constant increase in the number of members and successful stories.

However, online dating can be dangerous especially in a country with high crime rate. Many unfortunate events have occurred due to this modern way of dating.

This is why I decided to write this ultimate safety guide to online dating!

I’ve written them in bullet points so that people can actually remember these rules!

Before your first date

1. First rule is the golden rule: Choose your online dating site carefully
2. Be patient! Don’t go too fast, take your time!

4. Learn to stay clear of married man/woman
5. Be honest but stay anonymous
6. Use a nickname and don’t associate yourself with words such as sexy, handsome, pretty etc.
7. Don’t give out personal details
8. Create a free email address for online dating purposes only
9. Get another cell phone number if phone calls are to be made
10. Use webcam if you want to, but don’t go too far (you know what I mean!)

On your First Date

11. Dress conservatively
12. Never go on your first date alone! And always go somewhere public!
13. Let your family members know where you and your friend are
14. Stay away from alcohol, and look after your drinks
15. Keep an eye on your valuable items such as cell phone etc.
16. Use your own mode of transport
17. When you are on your way home, make sure that no one is following you

After your first date

18. Once again, take your time. Don’t make any conclusions based on first impression only
19. Stop any communication if you suspect something
20. If everything goes well, then good luck. Stay vigilant though.
21. Make sure that he/she knows you just as much as you know him/her
22. Listen to your friend’s opinions which can be very helpful
